DJ Taucher
DJ Taucher is Germany's DJ in a wetsuit (Taucher is German for Diver). His real name is Ralph Armand Beck, although all productions appear to be with Torsten Stenzel. Both have had close ties with DJ Tandu (Ayla) in the past.

12": Taucher - Child of the Universe (Sanvean)[12AD037 / 12AD038]
Released 5/99 on Additive Records. Written and produced by Ralph Armand Beck and Torsten Stenzel. DJ Taucher serves up another superb trancer with two remixes of 'Child of the Universe'. Use of operatic style vocals (pinched from Dead Can Dances's 'Sanvean') gives a full on powerful effect and anthem potential. I'm not overly keen on 'Bizarre', which lives up to its name, although the harder trancer 'Flüssig' is worth a listen. Originally released in Germany - more info below.

CD Single: Taucher - Bizarre / Child of the Universe[LC 01476 / 563 633-2]
Released '99 on What's Up?!/Polydor Zeitgeist (Germany GmbH). Tracks 2,3 & 5 written and produced by Torsten Stenzel, Ralph Armand Beck, Lisa Gerrard and Andrew Claxton. Tracks 1 & 4 written and produced by Torsten Stenzel and Ralph Armand Beck. Head straight for the Extended Club Mix of 'Child of the Universe' for a full-on uplifting trancer with a wonderful operatic mid-track breakdown (pinched from Dead Can Dances's 'Sanvean') . Tracks 4 & 5 also released on Additive Records as a 12".

CD Single: Taucher Battles Talla 2XLC - Nightshift[ADR666936 2]
Released '99 on Adrenalin (Sony Music Germany GmbH). Written and produced by Torsten Stenzel, Ralph A. Beck, Talla 2XLC and Vernon B. Words by Vernon B and Matthew Tasa. Vocals by Matthew and Kate. The DJ Taucher Club Mix is an excellent slice of trance except for the really awful female spoken vocal that keeps popping in during the breakdowns. However, the XLC's Club Mix cures this problem by ditching the female vocal, leaving just pure wonderful trance. XLC's Trance mix strips the track down, leaving slightly harder beats and a darker theme. XLC's Nightflight is a superb dub mix, with sweeping melodies and powerful pumping beats. This single is superb and a must.

12": Talla vs Taucher - Together '99[TECHNO 010-12 / TECHNO 011-12]
Released 8/99 on Techno Club Recordings (a Division of Music Research GmbH). Written and produced by Torsten Stenzel, Ralph A. Beck, Talla 2XLC and Vernon B. Talla kicks in with a beatline straight from Nightshift, which develops into a heavier, meatier trancer than its predecessor. Likewise, the Phase 3 Mix is a harder edged, darker trancer, although this really fails to inspire when compared to Nightshift. However, on the first 12" Sean Dexter saves the day with a superb well balanced remix. Likewise, on the second 12", its Push (M.I.K.E.) who deliver the goods, shining out over the rather weak Phase 1 and Taucher remix. For more information on Talla click here.

CD Single: Talla vs Taucher - Together '99[ADR 6676532]
Released 8/99 on Adrenalin (Sony Music Entertainment GmbH). Written and produced by Torsten Stenzel, Ralph A. Beck, Talla 2XLC and Vernon B. This is the very rare CD single of Together '99 featuring the excellent Sean Dexter remix plus a vocal mix from Talla that never made it onto the Techno Club vinyls.

12"/CD Single: Diver & Ace - Mental Thing[GOFO 9833-6 / LC2327]
Released on Go For it/Alphabet City GmbH (Germany). Written and produced by Ralph Armand Beck and Torsten Stenzel. Vocals by Janet Taylor. All mixes of this track that feature on the 12" are very average. The best mix by a long shot is the DJ Sakin mix (see below). Thanks to Thomas Petersen for the information on the CD single version.

12": Diver & Ace - Mental Thing[GO-LTD03]
Released on Go For it/Alphabet City GmbH (Germany). Written and produced by Ralph Armand Beck and Torsten Stenzel. Vocals by Janet Taylor. This limited edition white label features the same mix on both sides. This is a powerful piece of uplifting trance and blows the other remixes (that featured on the other vinyl on the same label) out of the water.

12": EP2[12AD050/12AD051]
Released 6/00 on Additive Records. Written and produced by Ralph Armand Beck and Torsten Stenzel. This is a great release from Taucher. Scince Fiction, which is also a 9 track CD single featuring many remixes including Mario Piu, ATB and Cosmic Gate, is a deep and dark trancer. The Clubmix 2000 version takes a while to get going with a lengthy intro, but once the beats cut in this track does some serious damage. The midtrack section also features a fantastic male spoken lyric, defining the real meaning of Science Fiction, which will probably freak a few people out on the dance floor, but its the kind of track i'd play for a laugh. The DJ Jaimy & Kenny D Remix drop the vocal and the lengthy intro and just stick to the deep and dark beats. Winter Love is a potential big summer anthem, and not as cold and frosty as its title suggests. Uplifting piano melodies float over what is essentially quite a deep trance bassline - both the Original Mix and Funk Function Remix hit the mark.

CD Single/Double 12": Science Fiction[561774-2 / DMDSCUBA005]
CD single released on Zeitgeist/Polydor Zeitgeist as CD single. Licensed from Scuba (Germany). Double vinyl released on Scuba (Germany). Written and produced by Ralph Armand Beck and Torsten Stenzel. Vocals by Benny Brown. Words by Ralph Armand Beck and Torsten Stenzel. This is an excellent new single from Taucher; deep and dark trance wrapped around a deep spoken vocal defining science fiction - its slightly eccentric and somewhat bizarre, but it works well. A good selection of mixes, all of which are trance, varying only in hardness. The best of the bunch are the Original mix and the Psychedelic mix (titled the Clubmix 2000 on Additive Records - see above), both along the same lines and don't vary from each another that much. The Trancephase Mix, Chipmunks's Revenge and Deep Mix all feature the spoken sample played at double speed, with the sample sounding like the guy has just breathed a load of helium gas (hence the reference to Chipmunks - you need to have seen the childrens cartoon to make the link), which is both comical and annoying; is this dance music for ten year olds??? It's a shame, because the Trancephase and Deep mixes are both the better of the mixes in terms of DJ friendliness. Ho hum. Of the remixes by outside parties, only Cosmic Gate produce anything worth playing, with Mario Piu, ATB and Nick Beat only producing average reworkings.

Released 4/01. Various formats of this single have been released on Scuba Records and Polydor Zeitgeist, although i'm still waiting to get hold of any of them! Note that since I've not got these singles then the above information may not be correct.
