At first that was an amateur studio which in 1976 invited children who loved theatre and wanted to perform theatre. Today these children are actors of municipal children's theatre "Vera". At that time they came to a director and pedagogue Vera A.Gorshkova who is an artistic leader of the theatre.

"Vera" transformed from little studio into serious professional theatre whose spectators go from magic tales to the top of the world dramatic art.The repertoire includes plays by russian and foreign, classical and modern authors. Every performance is a frank talk with spectators about serious matters: who are we? what are we? why do we come in this world?  Since we all came from childhood the main spectators of the theatre are children. Today "Vera" is the only theatre in Nizhny Novgorod region where children perform on a level with professional actors.

This children's theatre has abundant experience. It has won numerous prizes on various festivals. But inspite of this it is young and therefore there is no routine and complacency here. It always searches for new authors, new artistic decisions, new theatre language.Hence there are diversity of repertoire, willingness to fulfil the boldest projects among which new festivals, joint international performances, street shows etc.

The theatre has a school studio for dramatic art in which there are about 30 children from 8 to 16 years old. Lectures in actor mastership, scenic movement, enunciation and history of theatre are delivered by students of Vera A.Gorshkova. Specialists in choreography, fine arts, properties and folklore are invited especially for this studio. The main task of the school is to teach children to understand rules of space, to be able to listen and to hear, to look and to see, to dream and invent that helps them to perceive themselves.Nevertheless this school studio for dramatic art allows to clear up if children are talented for theatre.

She graduated from the Moscow Art Universuty as the drama director in 1970. At that time she started working as the director of theatre studio, began creating of link-minded team. The first recognition  came when her studio got the rank of Young Spectators Theatre. In 1991 this Young Spectators Theatre was transformed into Municipal Children's Theatre "VERA" and Vera A.Gorshkova became its artistic leader.

During 29 years of work she put on the stage more than 50 plays. The most outstanding of them are "Blue Bird" by Metherlink, "Cherry Orchard" by Chekhov, "Loony Gourdin" by M.Bulgakhov and others. Her plays always receive an enthusiastic wellcome from the spectators and mass media.

Vera A.Gorshkova carries on large educational work. She worked as a senior lecturer in Samara State Academy Of Art And Culture from the September 1992 to the July 1997. Now she teaches in Nizhny Novgorod Theatre College. Her masterclasses in actor mastery enjoy wide popularity.

She devotes much time to organizing childrens' and youth festivals. Russian Festival of Childrens' Theatres "Blue Bird" took place in 1996, International Youth Festival "Contact" - in 1997.
Vera A.Gorshkova won the supreme Nizhny Novgorod theatre prize "Nizhny Novgorod Pearle" for her contribution to the development of childrens' theatre in 1997.
